In the Piano Roll view of my DAW I have arpeggio'd chords that work fine in RG Classic, i.e. all the 6 strings sound when I use the controller for 'slow strum down'. But if I then load RG5 the same MIDI notes make a kind of poor 2-string arpeggio. Do I have to indicate a slow strum differently in RG5??
Here's a pic of the chorus section I need arpeggio'd chords for, the top red midi notes being those that specify the chords and the bottom ones are the 'Slow Down' controller notes.

Skyline,

What is your version of RG 5? Click MusicLab logo -> About

What modes are you using in Classic and SteelString in your test?

Note also, that Slow Strum stroke is a trigger key but not a keyswitch, so will produce slow strum after the chord is played, but not at the same time with the chord,

Seems that you are trying to produce Slow Strum being in Solo mode of RG Steel String, which will strum your two note chords only, but not full chord when you are in Multi or Chord mode of RG Classic!

Regards,
Sergey

Hi Sergey

RG5 version: 5.0.2.7424.
Mode in Classic: Chords
Mode SteelString: Multi

The 'control' MIDI notes in the bottom of my screen - are those trigger keys or keyswitches? I don't know the difference between the two.

I've now made a gap in the timing between the top 'note notes' and the 'control' notes, making the latter a bit later and eventually made the slow down strums in RG Steel String sound correct. I also changed the RG slow strums parameter to be slower. Classic seemed tolerant of notes and control notes being at the same points in time, RG not so.

Skyline,

Keyswitches (if not indicated as a 'trigger' in the name) should be inserted a bit earlier note(s) you want to apply the effect to.
All keys of Repeat zone including the Strokes you used in your example are "trigger" keys that will produce the assigned effect when inserted AFTER the note (chord) you want the effect to be applied (Slow Strum, Muted Strum, etc...).

Here is explanation of the Keyswitches, in case you want to see the difference:
