I have Real 8 doing duty as a simple bass playing two to the bar with my Guitar Hero controller. I’ve got it set to pick with alt bass and two strings on the up stroke. It is very simple but sounds ok. What I’d like to do is mute the two upper strings so that only the alt bass notes sound. Is this possible please?

bigalminal,

Not clear what you mean. Please clarify in detail.

In the two chord picking mode with alt bass turned on, I’d like to make to two plucked notes that sound above muted so they don’t sound and just have the alternating bass notes that sound below sounding only.

I’m not sure how to make it more clear. I’ve set Real 8 to pick. I’ve turned alt bass on. I’ve set two strings for up stroke. I’d like to mute the up strings
and just have the alt bass sound two to the bar.

bigalminal,

Unfortunately that's not possible.
Simply use down stroke and don't use upstroke, if I understand your problem correctly.

Sergey

I’m using Gig Performer as a host and play several guitars at the same time. I need to have all the guitars playing correctly so can’t just use downstrokes. Thanks anyway.

bigalminal,

I understood at last what you want and how to do that.

If you are on Windows:

- Go to RealEight installation folder (by default C/Program Files/MusicLab),
- open Sequence.txt file containing all sequences you see in Picking Sequence list,
- type in the new sequence containing single stroke 'B1', which means that Bass 1 will be played on upstroke; or 'B2' which will play Bass II (alternative) on ustroke,
- save txt file.

Now when you rerun RealEight select B1, or B2 sequence for Picking mode.
Think that's what you want.

Regards,
Sergey

Thanks Sergey, I'll try that later today. With the alt tab turned on, will that give me the two to the bar 1/5th below?

bigalminal,

With this sequence (Bass on upstroke) alt mode will not work.
Bass 1 can be alternated to Bass II only after any chord note higher Bass I/II is played with upstroke.

Regards,
Sergey
