Midi vs Multi Global Mode

Hi All,
I have been working with my own patterns in RealGuitar 5 and I have a query on how these differ in one aspect - the use of Bass 1 and Bass II to trigger the alternate bass.
When I use MIDI mode and use the Bass and Chord performance mode, then my pattern alternating between Bass I and Bass II operates exactly as I would expect them from the published stroke map for RealGuitar and that is without select Alter Bass as a parameter for this mode.
When I switch to Multi and select Bass as a sub mode then only Bass I plays. Even when I select Alter Bass in this mode the alternate Bass does not play.
Should both of these modes be equivalent?
