I know there are threads out here about hammering on with RealStrat, but I can't seem to get it to work and I find the directions confusing. Can someone please tell me step by step how to get an example to work—for example, which boxes to check, what value notes to use, etc?
In the box on the interface that is just under Chords, I can change the drop-down from Mute to Hammer On (Legato), but I can't make anything happen. If you could explain this very simply and give me a specific example, I can figure it out from there.
I am using RealStrat as a VST in Sonar X1, 64-bit.
Thanks!
PS I als0 have RealGuitar and RealLPC and I assume the operation is somewhat similar, but right now I need this for Strat. |

konradh,
Hammer On works only in Solo mode. It is active by default (H.O. button in the center with '2' setting in the numeric box at the right)
To produce Hammer On:
- play a note
- while holding it play another note 1 or 2 step higher which will mute the first note (Hammer On)
- while holding first note quickly release the second one that will automatically trigger the first one (Pull Off)
Multiple pressing-releasing the second note will produce HO-PO trill.
Hammer On works only when you play notes legato way (overlapping notes)
Hope that helps

Hey, Sergey! Long time, no talk. Thanks. I will try this again and see what I am doing wrong. Your explanation is very clear. |

OK, for some reason I am having trouble getting a Strat part to sound authentic—it sounds too much like a keyboard and I think the problem is Hammer Ons/Offs.
1. I got the hammer ons to work (although they didn't sound very different than normal notes)
2. I took the MIDI file that was working and pasted it into another Sonar project.
3. Even though all settings on the Strat were the exact same in both projects, and even though Hammer On is on by default, in the new project, the hammer ons don't work. For example, if I have a D# and an E that overlap, I hear BOTH notes at the same time.
I think I must be missing something simple. Can anyone help? Thanks! |

konradh,
When H.O. button is active E would sound together with overlapped D# in the same octave only if time between their note-ons is more than 2 seconds.
Please send us MIDI file to have a close look to supportbox@musiclab.com

arabella,
Hammer-On (Legato) FX in drop-down menu of Permanent FXs simply duplicates H.O. (Hammer-On) FX activated by H.O. button. Please read the previous post to understand how Hammer-On works.
