can I load a rhythm pattern and just type in the chord sequences ,for say 32 bars, in Real Guitar. (without actually playing on the midi keyboard)? |

Hello again!
Sorry to keep posting the same response but, no.
I've got to say, though, this is a very interesting concept! To be able to take guitar tabs or chord structures and type them in, and determine how many bars that chord would play before the next, all driven by a rhythm pattern . . .
Very interesting. . . .

If you use RG in a sequencer program that allows midi FX plugins.
There is a way to do this by using a software mfx plugin from Ntonyx/JMT.
http://www.ntonyx.com/jmt_orch.htm
It allows typing chords. But it also generates midi data into your sequencer
on several tracks. Just assign a midi track that fits RG, then you can use it the way you wants. _________________ Cheers

I'm not entirely sure I follow this concept...
What do you mean exactly? How would this work? How would you make it work? _________________ You're gotta love RealGuitar! |

Hi deesto
If you ever used a midi FX, then it is just the same. Activate the JMT plug on a midi track. The JMT plays the chords you write for it. Then you activate RG as output on that track and select the midi channel RG should receive on. Suggestion is to pick one with eg chords playing. This will make RG play those chords. To make the rhytm of the chords more fancy use a midi track with trigger notes (the new feature in RG 1.5).
JMT is kind of a automatic band MFX plugin. Simular to the applications Ntonyx Arranger or Band in a Box or Jammer Pro.
Another way is to use any of the applications I mentioned to generate
the midi from the chords that you write. And then import it into the sequencer program.
I use the JMT mfx in Cubase SX & Cakewalk Home.
Download the demo and try it out!

The easiest way is probably writing the chords into the RhytmChords 2.5 if you got that working in your DAW. Have not tried it myself though, yet. _________________ Cheers

Aha.... i see what i still do not understand then:
What do you mean by the "typing/writing the chords"?
Isn't this what you do an a piano-roll type of screen in a sequencer anyway? E.g. garageband, logic audio, cubase.
Either that or you normally play the chords via midi, no? _________________ You're gotta love RealGuitar! |

Thanks for the info, Bob!
Until now, I wasn't aware of a midi FX that could do this!

No, by writing I mean you type in like Cm7, Emaj7 etc.
Instead of midi notes are played from a midi keyboard or entered via an editor. _________________ Cheers

Hi Phil
Just some more additional info. The JMT mfx plug does not allow the user to create own patterns/styles, but by using the Ntonyx Onyx Arranger you can create own patterns/styles that then can be loaded into the JMT. _________________ Cheers
