Is It possible to play "Multimode" with Cubase SX 3 (Windows XP) using 16 different midi Channels (using the PC with Cubase SX3 as Target PC), Midi over Lan is on the Mac Book pro with Logic Pro 8.
Thanks.

I'm hoping someone has come across this issue and there's a simple solution (error on my behalf in the MOLCP3 settings or something else simple!)
I have two PCs networked through GigaBit LAN, MOL CP3 successfully connected on both systems and MIDI data is coming through just fine. Instruments play just fine, no delay etc. PC1 runs Nuendo 3, PC2 runs Cubase SX2.
My problem is that the MIDI messages sent say on Port 1, Channel 1 from PC1 to PC2 are coming through on all Port 1's Channels on PC2. I've checked and double-checked my settings, I know for a fact the settings work if instead I switch the MIDI out device to a local VSTi instead of a VSTi on PC2. |

As usual, the problem was not the software but its user... Here's the simple solution to this:
If a single MIDI In port in Cubase is broadcasting several channels and this port needs to be used for individual MIDI or Virtual Instrument tracks triggering a specific channel from the VSTi, then the incoming MIDI port needs to be filtered on each MIDI track to allow only the track's channel's MIDI data.
Here's a link to a description on how to do this:

Hope this helps others that didn't know about this feature! |
