Hi,

I downloaded and installed Real Strat one hour ago. Good stuff! If you look at the center of the user interface, you can see »Electric:Strat« and a dark grey arrow right of it. In my opinion that's the selector for new samplebanks which will be released and sold in the future.

What do you think of it?

Bye,

Ralf

1. Rickenbacker 12 String
2. Madolin for RealGuitar
3. RealBass
4. Lapsteel (it's probably impossible to recreate, but you never know)
5. Les Paul (although i cant tell the difference between that and a Strat after its been amped and affected)

Invert this list and you've got my vote..!

A good Les Paul won't sound nearly as "Twangy" as this strat.. Smile

..and maybe add a tele' in there for the Texans...!

They named it Real'Strat', so it doesn't make sense they'll put other guitars in this plug.

My opinion: They named it "Real Strat" because it would be absurd to release a software called "Real Electric Guitar" with only one samplebank included. I'm sure there will be more soundsets in the future. Otherwise the popup selector in the user interface would be obsolet.

...and the writing "Electric:Strat" would be obsolet, too!

I ask Sergey about that and he says there are no plans at this point for les paul or humbucking samples or plugin. But he said you never know what the future holds. I'd like to see a humbucking sample for real strat, and then RealBass. That's my 2 cents Smile I know there's hardly a demand, but I wish someone would make a virtual pedal steel Smile I love that instrument.

What would you say is the best way to approximate this sound with what's available now with RealStrat? Anyway to get close?

Ive come very close to a authenic pedal steel sound by using 4 different tracks with the same pedal steel samples, but a seperate channel for each track. I just about mimiced all of the Teach Your Children steel part that way. So you can bend one note without bending others or bend one 2 steps and another 3 etc. RealStrat already has the feature my old Ensonic, and kurzweil keyboards had where you can bend the notes that are held down, but notes you release won't be affected by the pitch wheel, this is all with the sustain pedal held down so that all the notes sustain. A program that adjust the steps of the bend on the fly along with some other tricks, could be very effective. Smile If you can't find a Pedal Steel sample, a general midi jazz guitar sound works quite well.

The IK Electric Guitar Sonic Capsules features steel samples. I used them in a tune I'm working on with decent results. Since I'm not a steel player at heart most of the fault likely lies in my interpretation of how a Steel guitar should play, but I still was reasonably happy with my output.

Also +1 for Humbucker Samples. They just sound more "rough" than Fender Strat Samples.

I suppose it wouldn't be very difficult for Musiclab to create a Real Les Paul. They have the RealStrat engine, all they need to do is record the samples and maybe a few minor tweaks to the engine (but I have no programming knowledge at all, so I might be wrong). But a Real Les Paul would be...well, a dream come true Very Happy I know that Musiclab doesnt't consider recording a LesPaul at the time, but as Sergey said, you never know what the future might bring.

I would think using the ReaStrat engine, and just assigning all the controls to "steel" needs would work quite well

Plus - country music is a huge market

Here's to Real Steel, Real Banjo, Real 12 string, etc

I can hardly wait
