I was looking through my inventory is VIs and plugins, and discovered that I had purchased Slayer2, and then completely forgot about it. It sounds bloody awful with its own built-in sound source, but I seem to remember running some kind of rompler guitar through it ages ago and it didn't sound too bad. I also have Amplitube, and I won't really know the strengths and weaknesses of each until RS is released. Slayer2 has some wicked harmonic feedback effects.

Anyone have any comments about Slayer2 in the context of RealStrat?

Geoff

Hi Geoff,

I also bought Slayer2 a long time ago and almost nearly used it because it sounds too synthetic.

As I installed RealStrat I tested the Slayer-FX-Section with it and must say that it doesn´t sound nice....besides of max. 1-2 amp presets almost everything sounded really bad.....better forget Slayer2 FX for RealStrat, it´s no good.

I´m happy with FreeAmp2, very realistic AmpModelling. Made a new track yesterday night and it sounds pretty cool though I not finished yet and made no mastering. Maybe I can upload the Pre-Mix of my new song later on.

@Geoff:How´s it best to post the link? Can unregistered users listen to a songs linked directly?

Geoff,

RealStrat has harmonic feedback FX (among others 30+):

FeedBacker (trigger) FX triggers a harmonic feedback for the note(s) being played in the Main zone (for the last in time pressed note in case of a chord). The FeedBacker FX pull-down menu provides the following harmonic selections: 8 (octave), 5’ (octave and a fifth), 8’ (two octaves), 5’’ (2 two octaves and a fifth), 8'' (three octaves), and 5’’’ (three octaves and a fifth).
/RS Manual/

Sure you could play great solo parts with RS FeedBacker, Sustainer, Pinch Harmonics, Violining, etc... FXs Smile

Regards,
Sergey

bought slayer 2 also because at first I was amazed of how 'almost" real, the chucking sounded, but somehow , in a musical piece it just doesn't come to rights. It's body seems to be elsewhere but in the song/sound. It's hard to explain.

THe thing that survives from slayer2 are the bass patches. THose are very good.

Don't bother with Slayer FX, since you get a "light" version of Amplitube 2, when you buy RealStrat. As mentioned in this thread:

......and we have to wait until.......September.........? Aaaaaaaaaaargh!

Only kidding, but the waiting is sheer torture. Just my luck to be a Mac user when the offer to beta test RS arrived. Mr. Green

I bought Slayer 2, i find it sounds too much like a sythesizer AND the chugga doesn't sit in the track - ie sounds like it has virtually no body to it. I bought a new computer last month and didnt even bother loading it up. I ended up putting Real Guitar thru Guitar Rig - SO much better, even tho its only acoustic. Real Strat will be wonderful, i just know it.

Hi Roberto,

Thanks for the warning. I'll steer well clear of Slayer. Smile
Regarding the uploads, you don't need to be registered. If you don't already have the uploader, you can download it here:

Mac: http://music.dottunes.net/DOT-Uploader-OSX-1.0-Build-7.zip
PC: http://music.dottunes.net/DOT-Uploader-WIN-1.0-Build-7.zip

When you've launched the Uploader, enter:
IP Address: music.dottunes.net
username: realstrat
password: user
Press Login.
Drag your mp3 into the main window and press start. That's it.
Quick Play: http://music.dottunes.net/realstrat.html
Scroll down to your track and click on it.

Note:
To include your name along with your track in the player display, before you upload, you'll need to add your Artist/Album metadata using your preferred jukebox app, and upload the newly encoded track.

If you want to delete a track, or have any questions or comments just PM me.

Cheers,

Geoff

Hi Geoff,

thanks for the reply, but that was not what I intended with my question Smile
I was asking of a direct way to link to an uploaded track, so when someone posts in the forum that a new track is out he could follow the link and could listen directly to this song hosted on dottunes.

I posted a direct link to my song this week and this didn´t work out for some users....would be nice to able to do so, maybe I explained better now Wink

Cheers
Roberto
