I'd guess 3, with one slider to select the intensity of that specific sound.
One for the fretboard (bridge), one centered and one from the saddle. But only the developers can confirm for sure. |

Hm, yes, there is a possibility to select about 15 pick positions, but I think they have nothing to do with the sampled pickup, but the place the strings are picked, near the brdige or away from the bridge. The positions seem to have something to do with the pickups you see on the RS-window (where three pickup are displayed) but I do have the idea only 1 pickup is sampled. But I'm not sure. The difference between the most right and left pick position is clearly noticable, more than you would when you'd just pick in that position. Maybe it's a bit of both.
To put it short: I really don't know. |

What J van E said...
I haven't a clue as to what pickups were used when sampling, and I doubt ML will give it away. I'd guess they used one of the five positions on the selector switch that best represented the style of sample...chucks with the neck PU ?, chimes in the mid position? single notes more twards the bridge ?...who knows.
For playback, the pickup slider acts very similar to my MusicMan Bongo bass controls. It's a gradual sweep between bridge and neck. No definitive 1, 2, 3, or combo settings. To me, the slider acts like a high pass filter, but it seems to be emulating pickup positions pretty well.
I intend on posting a demo myself if my day job doesn't kill me first |
