Has anyone here ever worked with Chris Hein Guitars? It looks like a real contender for the acoustic guitar crown (might beat Real Guitar 2), but I really wonder how good the electric guitar is from Chris Hein Guitar. I just can't find any good samples of it (using amp-plugins). I wonder how it will do against Real Strat. Everyone here has been waiting so long for Real Strat so I wonder: did no one know about Chris Hein Guitar or is it just not good enough...?

I have Chris Hein Guitars. I bought it mainly because RealStrat was still in development six months ago and I needed to finish a project at that time. Well, CHG is pretty good in terms of sound (especially the jazz guitar). I used it in a heavy rock project (kind of like Tool, Deftones style) and it covered almost all my needs. Some articulations are missing though (pinch harmonics, proper bends, to name but a few) and it also was a bloody nightmare to get a realtime performance with this thing. The keyswitches are a major pain in the ass, but as you get to grips with it, it becomes easier.
However I think that RealStrat will beat CHG. I like the demos, it surely looks very very promising. And there are more articulations than CHG, plus it doesn't need a sampler from NI, unlike CHG!
(One last thing: RealGuitar is soooo much better than CHG for acoustics.)

Okay, good to know that RG is so much better for acoustics (I own RG 2L). Wink Also interesting to hear RS has more articulations!

BTW CHG comes with Kontakt 2 Player, so you do not need so have the full version of Kontakt 2. Then again, CHG is twice as expensive as RS...!

I'm really getting frustrated by the fact there are no more demo's being released of RS. I am one of the people who do NOT like the current demo's (they have midi written all over them) but I would really like RS to become THE electric guitar plugin! If they just would release some completely CLEAN samples (of riffs and screaming solo's) so I can run them through my amp-sims...

I also have Chris Hein Guitars. I have found them be ok in back ground tracks but no way in a foreground or lead situation. Key switches suck and real time anything is not there. The biggest problem with CH is all samples sound pluck, not strummed. You have to set the Max velocity down to get a usable sound. What make RealGuitar and RealStrat have more potential is the floating bridge. I am hoping for great things from RealStrat but getting frustrated with lack of communication and samples. In the meantime I hope to get EastWest MINISTRY OF ROCK to keep on writing. I don't expect it will be as good for real-time as RealStrat but you have to do what you have to do.
