Where do I find the song. Sounds interesting!

Well, despite claims that some make music for themselves, I've always figured music is a way to express oneself to others in an artistic way. If I could post one tune, and know a few people put it on their mp3 players coz they loved it, mission accomplished. I have no delusions about becoming a star. But I'd still love to make it onto a few mp3 players someday and know my mind touched someone else's through art.

And those critisisms you're getting in the Sonar forum (incredibly, neither of the first two replies mention midi), they're giving them because they assume you're going to work on it to make it better. Ya know? It's not just me man Wink Lots of people in there post multiple versions of the same song based on the advice they get in their posts. Like I said, critisism is the best way to learn, even though it usually sucks to hear it.

You say you can't make something like Allan's Resolve, and I say that's true...but only because you believe it to be true. I don't. If you ever decide it's worth the work and develop a personal work-style with RS over the next year or so, you'll stop believing it.

Hm, yes, well, I haven't been playing music for a year and a half or so, because of this: I noticed I wasn't making music for my own fun but to please others (well, not entirely, but it played an important part). That's okay, of course, but if you don't have fun yourself in the meantime... So now I've started again (coincidently when RS is showing up) and I made a promise to myself to do what I like...

Apart from that, it IS nice to get appreciation. I do have a simple tune (just as simple as Walking) that's been hovering in the Soundclick Acoustic guitar top 20 for almost a year and a half now (and I don't say this to brag about it or to get more appreciation, believe me, I'm just being honest!): every now and then I get a mail that the song has been added to yet another playlist and I have to admit: that's VERY nice! But nevertheless, I don't want to make music purely for THAT kind of satisfaction anymore... It IS nice but I rather have FUN while making music itself.

(BTW That tune was made in a whopping two days Wink , is just as simple as Walking, maybe even more simple, and still... some people seem to like it...! So I guess there is more to music than just a perfect mix a la Allan's Resolve...! Wink )

Very true: That's exactly what I meant to say with my earlier post (about being impantient and so on Wink ).

EDIT:
And BTW it IS also a matter of taste. I said I made the tune with Neil Young in my mind: you won't see him making stuff like Allan's Resolve Razz , but that doesn't mean he can't reacht the heart of people! Wink So taste plays an important part too: some people DO like things rough and edgy and unfinished. Wink

Wink Indeed, they all tell me how to polish it more. But that's of course also the main purpose of that forum! I'm also (pleasantly) surprised no one mentions midi! I won't tell until someone starts talking about it! I mean, that's why I posted the tune over there, so see if they fall for it or not. Wink

yeah, i was just joking. What really interesting to see how some are going to back it up with (their) reason.

I wish I could wash away my knowledge. I'd probably hear something fishy about the pitchbends as well (if i think back, thats what somebody said already)... but I wouldn't quite be able put my finger up to it first...

Pity, no one else posted but I don't want to tell right now already. I wonder if Joe Bravo meant to say that it is OBVIOUSLY midi, like he can't believe someone even thought it was real. But it looks the other way around. Wink

Anyway, I posted a reaction (not reacting on the midi remarks) to see if I can bring some life into that discussion again, hoping someone else will start about that midi too. Wink

What I posted there BTW could be posted here too (as it is in fact some sort of follow up of the discussion between OldGeezer and me).

I have to say though it's a bit weird (and uncomfortable) to post here about posts there... Rolling Eyes

No, I read his message before it was edited and it was obvious he'd replied before reading the other posts coz he added the quote and his last comment afterward. He didn't notice.

I'll be honest, if you saw some of his comments in another thread about how alternative rock musicians have no talent and "heavy metal idiots" and how jazz is god's gift to music, you'd understand how badly I wanted to tell Mr Music about this.

Lol...I just checked. The real vs midi debate is starting.

Well, the jury is still not in agreement. Wink Some are even betting it IS a real guitar! And if I am not mistaken they are mainly talking about the lead guitar, as if the others are real for sure! Wink This is fun.

Tomorrow (it's late in the evening over here) I'll tell them the truth: I just want to see some more posts about it. Wink
