Inserting Looper (1.03) in the MFX bin of a MIDI track in Sonar 4 crashes Sonar. 100% reproducible.

Any ideas?

James,

Did you try Looper that was included with Sonar 3?

We updated Looper to work without crash in Sonar 4 but not sure that Cakewalk included the new version with S4 release.

In any case we'll update the downloadable installer to the latest version at our free products web page as soon as possilble.

Regards,
Sergey

Hi Sergey,

Unfortunately, it isn't feasible for me to try the version of Looper included with Sonar 4 because the Sonar 4 installer forces you to install ALL of the included MFX effects or NONE of them -- there's no custom installation options for the MFX effects. I own the full versions of Rhythm 'n Chords (Pro and ALL of the available styles), Slicy Drummer, and Fillin Drummer. When I start the Sonar 4 MFX installer, it first tries to uninstall my Rhythm 'n Chords Pro version so that it can install the included Rhythm 'n Chords Lite version. So, I would have to uninstall ALL of my pro versions of MidiLab software, install ALL of the included Lite versions, then unstall ALL the Lite versions and reinstall ALL of the Pro versions (plus ALL of the style libraries) -- plus do the same for my other MFX vendors, just to get Looper installed using the Sonar 4 installer in order to test it. That's way to much work just to see if one MFX is correct.

It would be great if we could download the latest, working version of Looper. Otherwise, I guess I'm out of luck.

Thanks.

We'll certainly release the updates for our products supporting Sonar 4 as soon as we get access to S4 release version.

Sergey

Support told me today in email, that the "MFX version of Looper is discontinued." Apparently they couldn't get it to work properly in Sonar 4. They also said that they were working on a new "VST version of Looper which will be included with our DrumTools PD software."

In the meantime, I personally will continue to use the great-working previous version of Looper in my old version of Sonar 3, to audition loops, and then copy the ones I want to use over to Sonar 4.
