Like the SmartFlute. Any word on what future instruments are planned?

Just considering. Depends on our users' enthusiasm about SmartFlute.

Smile Also like the Smart Flute however, a couple 1st release issues. Using Sonar 2.2, 1.6 GHz P-IV PC w/500M Ram, M-Audio 24/96 card. Get pops and clicks during playback, just with Smart Flute not with anything else. Also have problems when playing real time with not recognizing note off messages. When playing back a project first time, get audio breakup when Smart Flute starts playback (unless I load all samples manually first). Last issue is somewhat inconsistent performance during playback, eg. minor difference from one playback to the next. I share projects with another guy who also has Smart Flute and has the same issues (3.06 GHz PC w/Dakota Tango card).

Overall though, I like it and nothing else I've used sounds like it.

sailorman,

Try to increase audio buffer size in Sonar (seems you've made it too small)
To do that go to Options -> Audio ->General -> Buffer Size

Also try to set MIDI buffer not less then some seconds:
- go to Options -> Global -> MIDI -> Prepare Using

Hope that helps,

Sergey

I'm having problems with Smartflute, too.

In Sonar 2.2, the envelopes for Smartflute parameters (Accent, Portamento etc.) don't work properly. Some nodes work, but some become ignored by Smartflute. It is very strange. Envelopes work good with Sonar's track parameters, but they come with the same problem with any Smartflute parameter.

I also noted some minor differences in playback from time to time.

Nevertheless, the sound is great!

Shade,

You maybe have short notes in the track (16ths and shorter, with no legato) - so the musical situation doesn't allow SmartFlute to use parameters. Make notes longer and try again.

Regards,
Sergey

No, I have no short notes in the track.
The problem is with automation and it doesn't depend on notes at all.

Which part of this reply addresses the "note off" challenge?
In Sonar 7 |I have to go to the header sound off button to kill the hung note and would need to be completely sure of correctly setting adjustments to know that this will not spoil a live performance.

In Sonar, I raised the velocity setting in the track view and got better real time play.
