Hi to everyone!
Well I am about to buy MidiOverLan but I have some questions first.
First of all I use a Pc running Live 7.0 and to this Pc I have connected my firewire soundcard, to which my keyboard is conneted. My Pc now connects via Ethernet with a MacBook Pro, where I run Logic Pro 8.
And my questions are:
1) The manual says that u can sync two such music programms. What does exactly that mean? That both Live and Logic will really run at the same time (such as Rewire?).
What I have achieved so far with the demo of MidiOverLan is to use Logic in my MacBook Pro like a soundsource or something for Live 7.0 in my Pc. But when I load plug-ins in Logic that depend on the tempo (such as gated pads etc) I have an issue of synchronising them to the tempo of Live 7.0. How can I synchronise these?
-----------
2) And my second question is: let's say that I write a song in Live (PC), and then in Logic (MacBook Pro) I have loaded a few midi instruments, how do I determine which midi channel to play? I mean what I hear depends on which channel I click on Logic. (does this has to do with the ports or something?)
Well that's for now.
Thank and trully looking forward for your reply

You probably need to set Live to transmit MIDI clock over the MOL port, then set Logic to receive it.

Logic isn't a very good instrument host. I would look at Plogue Bidule or the host that comes with Logic Studio (Mainstage or something?) |
