Hi
I have a mac pro running 10.5.1
I have a number of gigastudio PCs, running win xp sp1
I am using the latest version of MOL3
Running Digital Performer 5.13
The latest version of MOTU USB midi driver
I was using the computer names in my setup. Sometimes the mac would lose the slave computer names in the configuration panel. If I had to restart mac for any reason, the slaves would lose the mac name in their configuration panels. Long story short, the whole "host name method" wasn't working. I decided to see if MOL would work without the host name box checked, and so far, it seems to work okay. I'll see in the next day or so if that solved that problem.
First Bug: It seems that sometimes, the MOL configuration panel freezes the audio midi setup window. Specifically, you're not able to select and move midi device icons around. If you quit AMS and restart it, you're able to move them again. I tried this on the intel mac, and also on a G4 867 mac, and it did it on both machines. (I was having so many issues with the intel mac, which I recently got, that I reconnected the G4 and installed MOL3 there as well as a back up.)
Second issue: On the intel mac, when it's working, it plays back midi data as it should. However if there if already midi data a track, and I'm overdubbing volume data, sometimes the midi notes stop playing, and then a couple of seconds later all the notes that didn't play, play all at once. I'm not sure if this is a MOL issue or a AMS issue. It did it with my samplers connected through a MOTU interface as well. It could be AMS or the motu midi driver or MOL causing the problem. Has anyone else had a similar problem using both MOL and MOTU on an intel mac? It appears not to be an issue with the G4.
Graphic Weirdness: When I click the "apply" button on the PCs, I've notice the screen will glitch for a split second on some of my PCs. I believe, though I'm not sure, it's the PC's with the older graphic cards. A couple of times I've gotten the Blue screen of death after hitting the apply button.
I'm working on a somewhat low pressure project now, so I can afford (to some degree) to fiddle around with this, but it would be nice if it could get resolved.
Overall question: anyone else had any of these problems? And to tech support, anyone else reported these problems, and is there a workaround or bug fix in the works?
Worst case senario for now: I have to restart the mac AND the PC's when all of them are fired up, that's not an easy task....
Thanks in advance. |
