F.A.Q.

(RealGuitar, RealStrat, RealLPC/Mac, Windows) I installed RealGuitar/RealStrat/RealLPC, but when I attempt to “Select Guitar” nothing happens or "guitars not found" message is displayed.

Open RealGuitar/RealStrat/RealLPC Bank Manager*, select sample rate[s] you work in your sequencer with and click Apply button. Please note, standalone versions of RealGuitar/RealStrat/RealLPC require 44100 sample rate.

* RealGuitar/RealStrat/RealLPC Bank Manager is availalable on Windows:

Start Menu -> All programs -> MusicLab -> RealGuitar 3/RealStrat 3/RealLPC 3 -> Bank Manager

* RealGuitar/RealStrat/RealLPC Bank Manager is available on Mac:

Standalone version of RealGuitar 3/RealStrat 3/RealLPC 3 -> main menu -> RealGuitar/RealStrat/RealLPC -> Sound Bank Manager

Default installation folders are:
Mac: Macintosh HD/Applications/RealGuitar, Macintosh HD/Applications/RealStrat, Macintosh HD/Applications/RealLPC
Windows: C:\Program Files\MusicLab\RealGuitar 3, C:\Program Files\MusicLab\RealStrat 3, C:\Program Files\MusicLab\RealLPC 3

(RealGuitar, RealStrat, RealLPC/Mac, Windows) Moving samples to external hard drive.

RealGuitar:

  1. Create folder RealGuitar on your external drive and move RealGuitar sample data files (Acoustic.mls and *.mln files) from /Applications/RealGuitar folder and ~/Library/Application Support/MusicLab/RealGuitar (Mac users) or C:\Program Files (X86)\MusicLab\RealGuitar 3 folder (Windows users) to external drive;
  2. Run RealGuitar Bank Manager*, you will see error window, click OK;
  3. Click Select under “Source bank file” and point to RealGuitar/Acoustic.mls file on your external drive;
  4. Click Select under “RealGuitar banks destination folder” and point to a RealGuitar folder on your external drive;
  5. Close RealGuitar Bank Manager.

RealStrat:

  1. Create folder RealStrat on your external drive and move RealStrat sample data files (Strat.mls and *.mln files) from /Applications/RealStrat and ~/Library/Application Support/MusicLab/RealStrat (Mac users) or C:\Program Files (X86)\MusicLab\RealStrat 3 folder (Windows users) folder to external drive;
  2. Run RealStrat Bank Manager*, you will see error window, click OK;
  3. Click Select under “Source bank file” and point to RealStrat/Strat.mls file on your external drive;
  4. Click Select under “RealStrat banks destination folder” and point to a RealStrat folder on your external drive;
  5. Close RealStrat Bank Manager.

RealLPC:

  1. Create folder RealLPC on your external drive and move RealLPC sample data files (LPC.mls and *.mln files) from /Applications/RealLPC and ~/Library/Application Support/MusicLab/RealLPC (Mac users) or C:\Program Files (X86)\MusicLab\RealLPC 3 folder (Windows users) folder to external drive;
  2. Run RealLPC Bank Manager*, you will see error window, click OK;
  3. Click Select under “Source bank file” and point to RealLPC/LPC.mls file on your external drive;
  4. Click Select under “RealLPC banks destination folder” and point to a RealLPC folder on your external drive;
  5. Close RealLPC Bank Manager.

(Registration/Mac) After starting the registration tool, where I have to locate the license key file, it shows the file in light gray and ignores it when I try to click on.

Please download latest update for your product.

(Registration/Mac) After successful registration, the next time I start RealGuitar/RealStrat/RealLPC/MIDIoverLAN, it asks for registration again.

In order to register RealGuitar/RealStrat/RealLPC/MIDIoverLAN you need to login as administrator. RealGuitar/RealStrat/RealLPC/MIDIoverLAN requires read/write permissions for common Preferences folder (/Library/Preferences). To setup read/write permissions please do the following:

  1. Right-click on the Preferences folder, select Get Info;
  2. Under “Ownership & Permissions” change:
    • “Owner” to your username;
    • “Access” to Read & Write;
    • “Group” to Admin;
    • “Access” to Read & Write;
    • “Others” to Read & Write;
  3. Press Apply to enclosed items;
  4. Register RealGuitar/RealStrat/RealLPC/MIDIoverLAN.
(RealGuitar, RealStrat, RealLPC/Mac, Digital Performer) After installation of RealGuitar/RealStrat/RealLPC Digital Performer doesn’t show RealGuitar/RealStrat/RealLPC in the Instruments list.
  1. Delete HD/Users/<your username>Library/Preferences/Digital Performer/Audio Unit Info Cache file;
  2. Start Digital Performer. It will rebuild its AU cache and find RealGuitar/RealStrat/RealLPC.
(RealGuitar, RealStrat/Windows) I’ve installed RealGuitar/RealStrat on my computer but when I try to open it, I get this message box: “Error creating the instance of RealGuitar/RealStrat”. And then this other box: "Error 2 — Can’t connect to handler

Please download latest update for your product.

(MIDIoverLAN CP/Mac) I incorrectly uninstalled MolCp3 by dragging the application folder to the trash and now I can’t completely uninstall it. I would like to reinstall it again but the installer is saying that I have to uninstall it first.

You need to remove /System/Library/Extensions/MolCp3.kext file and then reboot your computer.
