They have a whole forum just for Marketplace.
Over Xmas, I got my Vintaudio electric guitar samples there for a stunning $79.94 inc shipping (great samples too), with a Yamaha Grand thrown in   
Franky at Vintaudio was very happy with this as, although he had to drop his price a lot, he got a guaranteed $25,000.
No doubt he can use this to fund further sample development.
I feel group buys are cool for devs, as all devs need a positive cashflow if they're going to bring out new products.
Otherwise, how do you buy shoes for the kids if sales are a bit slow, and you still need to hire a studio for new sample recording etc?
The secret to a successful group buy is to make such a fantastic offer that no sane buyer can say no, while insisting on an overall sales volume that no sane dev can refuse.
RG might well make a good group buy product as acoustic guitar sounds are so damn popular. Everyone loves acoustic guitar.
