Hi to all @ the musiclab forum,

I've bought RealGuitar 2L and got my order today (physical CD, no download).

I've installed the software. The installer worked fine but... the programm refuses to run. After asking me whether I have the serial (I registreed today but didn't get the serial yet, which is normal as it seems), the programm tells me it will run as a demo for 30 days... but in fact, afterwards it just writes "Starting RealGuitar host"... and nothing happens after that, even after one minute. Note that the programm only asks me the serial the 1st time I try to run the software.

I downloaded the 2.1, 2.2 and 2.3 install versions from musiclab's servers and the same problem occured with versions 2.1 and 2.2, version 2.3 even didn't got me that far (it said several .DLL files couldn't be found).

Note that neither the standalone nor the VSTi or DXi version worked.

Please also note that the demo version of RealGuitar 2.3 worked fine on my system (except that it didn't unload automatically, I had to kill the process from the windows task manager, in the process pad - the same problem BTW happened when I ran the demo via an host sequencer, Sonar X1 in my case).

Furthermore, to check whether the problem comes from my machine or not, I installed the programm (the one that came on the CD) on another computer (a simple old laptop I use for diaporama presentation, where none of my other music programms are installed) and it worked fine (atleast in it's standalone version, I couldn't test any DAW as none is installed on that machine).

To me this clearly shows that there must be some kind of conflict between Realguitar and "something" on my main PC.

Can someone help me ?

What can I do ?!?

Has someone already encountered that problem ?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Hi all,

It finally looks I found where the problem was. It seems it had something to do with a previously failed microsoft .NET framework installation. I installed them all from scratch again and after installing :

- .NET framework 1.1
- .NET framework 2.0 Service pack 2
- .NET framework 3.0 Service pack 1
- .NET framework 3.5 Service pack 1

Realguitar worked fine (except a few bugs I already noticed on the demo version and about which I'm in contact with the musiclab support team).

If someone would like some more info on this issue, how I noticed what seemed to be the problem and how I (apparently) solved it, just ask me and I'll publish the additionnal info here.

Hi Phil,

I have the same problem. How did you reinstall all this framework?

Michael
