My Cubase SE 3.03 will not support drag&drop
of midi patterns from VST platform, but I
can drag midi files from the table
direct into the Cubase.

But why does the patterns place themselves
on C0 and really don't play exactly quite as
they should? I can recognize them but exspecially
the beginning shatter...hope someone can help.

Best regards
Topsy

Topsy,

Pattern notes are on their place in the lowest octave. But they don't play by themselves. You must insert/play a chord simultaneously with pattern - on the base of incoming chord and pattern MIDI info RealStrat will produce real pitches.

Refer to RS Manual -> Using Rhythm Patterns section for details

Regards,
Sergey

And, with kindness, may I suggest that you really need to consider updating to one of the more recent and fuller featured versions of Cubase. Attractive upgrade offers are currently available, and you would have a greater chance of success with all the newer plugins if you were working with a newer and more advanced version of Cubase.

Hello again Sergey!

Now I've had the time to look into the matter.
And I understand quite a bit more. But the pattern
play by itself whether I press key on the keyboard
or not. I now hear the pattern change the pitch though
when I do press a key and thats half the way.
But - when I drag midipattern into Cubase it create
two tracks where one seem to be empty.
And why are the pattern 2 beat long when only having
midinotes in it for one? Just for safety reasons?
Can I attach pics. here? Does not seems so, would be
easier maybe for you to understand what I'm talking
about - still I hope for a rasonably reply.

Best regards

HiTopsy,

1. CubaseSX 2 and C4 (that I have here) doesn't make empty track when dragging pattern to it. Don't remember if SX3 does that.

2. Patterns are not less than 1 Measure length. What do you mean by "And why are the pattern 2 beat long when only having
midinotes in it for one? ".
You have two option in Pattern manager to change pattern lenght and timing:
- Half/Double Tempo box to shrink/enlarge timing
- D'n'D Repeat box to cycle pattern by the needed # measures

maybe you used these options while auditioning pattern and the drag'n'drop result differs from original you see in Pattern view

3. Unfortunately you can't put pictures directly on the forum, but you can post a link. Or email us to supportbox@musiclab.com with the details and attach the screenshots to the letter

Regards,
Sergey

Re: "when I drag midipattern into Cubase it create

---Do you mean when you drag a MIDI pattern into Cubase after selecting "Import"> MIDI from the Cubase File menu (i.e. from a Windows sub directory panel NOT from Pattern Manager)? When you do that, yes, 2 tracks are created, one of them is blank and one has the pattern you selected.

Hello Sergey & Playz

Well, Sergey as stated in my first message I own Cubase SE 3.

You did not answer why the pattern play by itself, without me
pressing a key on the keyboard, just starting the sequencer.

And yes I drag from desktop and now I understand you
also get 2 tracks, Playz - but what is the empty one good for?

I'll look into the suggestions, Sergey - about the length of the
midipart, but I really do not think me changing to half tempo
inside VST midipatternmanager will affect the pattern itself.
When I drag from within Loop folder on the desktop.

Best regards

Torben,

1. Pattern Manager is synced with host so when you start sequencer pattern cursor shows current time but pattern 'plays silently' till you feed it with a chord

2. In Cubase 4 drag'n'drop MIDI from outside works fine, your Cubase SE adds empty track and empty measure at the end of MIDI clip, I think.

RealStrat Pattern MIDI files have no extra tracks/measures.

Regards,
Sergey

Ok Sergey forget about the length of pattern...

The main problem is: when I start Cubase the pattern sounds!
Auto, Hold & PM is turned off on VST and I do not put even one
little finger on the keyboard?

I centainly should like that not to happen.

Best regards

Topsy,

Please describe in detail your work.

As I understand you transfered pattern to Cubase, press Start and pattern triggers sounds by itself without sending chord to RealStrat?

That's impossible. You maybe have chord notes in any other track outputted to RealStrat? Or 'chase events/note' is set in Cubase preferences and you have extra chord notes earlier pattern part on the track?

Does that happens if you delete pattern from MIDI track and activate pattern in Pattern manager?

Please send us MIDI file of your song to supportbox@musiclab.com to have a close look

Regards,
Sergey
