|
|
|
| I am missing something but I'm not sure what. I'm using Sonar4. I use the synth rack to start DTPD. Then I start the DR008 VST using the synth rack. I specify the output of DTPD to go the DR008. I place a note event on a C note and I make sure there that a slicy pattern exists. When I run the sequencer I see DTPD working, but I don't see any DR008 cells being triggered, or if I do they are the wrong cells....not the ones specified in slicy. Curiously, I sometimes hear the pattern playing extremely faintly with what seems to be a sine wave. Help! |

ratskins,
You don't need to load Dr-008 to Sonar if you want to use it with DTPD
After you launch DT in Sonar by clicking 'Connect' button you must:
1. Load Dr-008 right in DT Out Port (in DT lowest track of Drummers column click small black triangle to open Select Out Port window and select Dr-008 in the list of available DXi's). Dr-008 will open its window in DT OutPort panel. Load kit to Dr-008 and now DT will play directly to Dr-008, sending audio to Sonar's audio output.
2. In Sonar create a MIDI track and select DrumTools PD as output of that track. Now open Piano Roll of the MIDI track and click any note - DT will play the appropriate Part triggered by this note.
3. Don't forget that we included a number of ready-to-use Styles with DT, each containing 4-8 measure drum parts with fills.
Go to File menu->Open Style, and select the Style from the list of included within DTStyles folder. Loading Style will fill all 12 Parts/pads of DT with loops and fills. You can now trigger any of 12 Parts with the appropriate MIDI note from Sonar MIDI track or external MIDI keyboard.

Sergey:
Thanks for the explanation. Things are working well now. FYI, when you select the output, I didn't realize you had to double click the output VST. I thought you highlighted it with a single click and then clicked on the icon in the bottom right of that window. That turns out not to be the case. DUH! |

ratskins,
You have to select the VSTi and then press 'Open' icon on the right upper corner, or, as commonly used, double-click it.
The lower right icon (exit image) means cancel/exit action.
