Greetings virtual guitarists,
Please give this a quick listen: http://soundcloud.com/raweber/pickdemo
In the second measure the guitar slides up several frets to the next note in the pattern.
Can I do this in RealGuitar, and, if so, how?
Thanks, Rob |

Thank you so much. Sorry I haven't posted in a while - I haven't had time to be creative in a while.
BTW, I did find an answer to my question. There will be a blog post about it sometime in the future... |

Hello!
I would really love to know how to program slides as MIDI data. I've seen Keytar Geoff do his stuff, but for me I just want to be able to export tablature with slide data and have this translated into Real Guitar through a sequencer like Cubase. I've tried this but the slides aren't right (wrong notes) which basically renders all my compositions useless.
I've read a couple of tutorials on the web such as this;
http://audio.tutsplus.com/tutorials/production/imitate-guitar-techniques-with-midi-part-3-%E2%80%93-glissando-1-octave/
which suggests changing the slide data values in the list editor;
I've changed Real Guitar's pitchbend option to slide and tried both 2 and 12 frets (bottom right of pic) but still had no luck.
I've spent many, many hours trying to suss this out and look for info on the web without success, so if anyone else has done this or has any suggestions / tips I would REALLY appreciate it! |

duel,
Of course you can program slides with RealGuitar, but note that Guitar Pro
slides and other special effects (except for MIDI notes and standard
controllers, of course) are not compatible with RealGuitar effects.
There are several ways for producing slides in RG:
1. Automatic slides Up/Down (the slide speed is automated)
a) Velocity tiggered slides (in all modes):
- select Slide Up or Down in Velo FX combo box (left lower part of RG
window, the upper box), set the needed velocity threshold (in the Velo box)
to trigger slide on note(s) with higher velocity value, set the needed time
(speed) with slider, and the needed interval (Steps numeric box) for slide
b) Slide between two legato played notes (Solo mode only):
- select Slide in the Solo FX combo box (lower left corner), set the needed
time with a slider and the maximum interval (steps) between notes that will
produce slide. Now play two notes (within the step range) legato - and get
automatic slide between them
c) Key Switch Slide between two legato played notes (Solo mode only):
- assign Slide on any of 4 keyswitch boxes (C1-D#1)
setting are similar b) but works only when you press the appropriate
keyswitch note before notes you want to get slide between
2. Manual Slide - slide speed is controlled by PitchBender movement (up or
down), when Slide FX is assigned to PBender
Works on held note only (similar normal Pitch bending): you play and hold
note(s), then move PBender to produce silde from this sustaining note(s)
